Herbs, herpes, and Alzheimer's

If Alzheimer's is a disease of malfunctioning mitochondria and herpes viruses infect and travel down nerves in mitochondrias could the action of lemon balm be explained by hindering herpes?

Note that other things can damage the mitochondria other than herpes like diacteyl which is the butter flavoring.
