An autoimmune disease of the brain which overlaps schzophrenia in that it has autoantibodies to the NMDA receptor and the Acetylcholine receptor.
T.gondii has been indicated as the infection that could be opening the blood brain barrier and possibly producing the NMDA autoantibodies.
Two different viruses could trigger the cross-targeting: the epstein barr virus and the cytomegalovirus. The culprit will be the one that has a one hemisphere spreading pattern and research is currently ongoing to attempt to isolate the virus in these patients.
In infants:

I am not sure if this is the autoimmune type of cross-targeting or not. T.gondii appears to trigger more molecular mimicry. (see schizophrenia posts)
Cross-targeting is the layering of 2 different infections on one target causing autoimmune disease. A viral infection marking the inside. A larger infection marking the outside.
